What to have ready when someone passes away
When you call us, we'll walk you through everything, there's nothing you need to have perfectly organized. But if you'd like to feel prepared, here's a gentle guide to what's most helpful to have on hand.
1
Your loved one's full legal name
Including middle name if possible, this is needed for the death certificate.
2
Date of birth
Required for state registration and death certificate filing.
3
Social Security number
Required for New York State death registration. Keep this private, share only with us directly.
4
Next of kin information
The name, relationship, and contact information of the person authorizing cremation.
5
Location of passing
Whether at home, a hospital, nursing facility, or elsewhere, so we can coordinate the transfer right away.
